Lee has 30 years’ experience in the HVAC business. Working his way through the ranks from teaboy to engineer to branch manager, he has worked alongside some great engineers, learning and honing his skills across the full spectrum of refrigeration and air conditioning. His experience has spanned small commercial systems right through to large industrial units within the marine world.
Beginning his apprenticeship with Woodhouse Refrigeration Limited back in 1986, he left ten years later as a qualified engineer working across the full spectrum of cooling / heating. In that time, Woodhouse had been bought by General Refrigeration.
Lee stepped up into a technical roll working for York International as a Service Tech, a manufacturer looking after large chiller systems for the likes of IBM and others. Within a short time, Lee wanted more from himself and believed the only way forward was to move into management to widened his spectrum.
His next stop was Kooltech Limited where he took on the role of Branch Manager. He went straight in at the deep end and turned the local branch around within two years from £250,000 to £1.2 million. This achievement was the impetus Lee needed, and convinced him that he could do for himself and stop filling others’ pockets. So Lee took the jump and went out on his own, trading as Freeair Services independently for five years before becoming a limited company. He’s never looked back.
His qualifications include City & Guilds Part 2/3, F-Gas City & Guilds and SMSTS, and he has a wealth of design capabilities coupled with seldom-found attention to detail. Lee prides himself on being able to apply his years of varied experience to come up with solutions for customers with a requirement for a bespoke package. Freeair have designed and installed many projects that have been intuitively designed and installed with care that any other company would have struggled to emulate.
